Optional monthly costs
Inputs stay in this browser session; persistent storage requires an explicit click. Tax inputs are sent only for calculation and are not written to analytics. A sharing link includes your inputs only when you explicitly create one.
Compare job offers after tax and living costs
A higher gross salary does not automatically leave you with more money after costs. Compare two to four job offers using annual gross pay, employee contributions and income tax. Add rent, external health insurance and your living costs when relevant. Each offer is calculated in its country’s currency first; a shared comparison currency makes the amounts easier to compare.
Each waterfall follows gross pay to payroll net and, when costs are enabled, to net after those costs. Monthly figures are annual averages, not promised monthly payslips. The remainder includes only the selected costs with complete inputs; it is not a complete household budget or an automatic recommendation.
Standard model: single, no children, employed, no church tax or individual deductions. Family profiles have not been released here. Work and tax residence must be in the same country. City labels do not select tax regions. Switzerland: Zurich model (ZH) only, without municipality-level calculations.
Job offer comparison FAQs
Which countries and profiles can I compare?
The tool supports Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the USA, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada and Australia for 2025 and 2026. The released standard profile is an employee who is single, with no children, church tax or individual deductions. Work and tax residence must be in the same country. Switzerland uses the Zurich model (ZH), without municipality-level calculations; a city label alone does not select a tax region.
What is the difference between payroll net and net after costs?
Payroll net is pay after income tax and employee contributions. Enabled rent, external health insurance and living costs are deducted afterwards. Contributions already deducted through payroll are not deducted again. An empty cost field means unknown; enter 0 explicitly only when no corresponding cost applies.
Do Budget defaults represent my actual expenses?
No. Country defaults are editable model assumptions for one adult: groceries, utilities and communications excluding rent, transport, and other costs. They do not replace a personal budget. Rent and external health insurance are entered separately; extra health costs are not automatically assumed. Check every amount against your circumstances.
What information does a share link contain?
A link is generated only when you explicitly choose to share. It contains your entered salaries, profile details and costs, but no calculated results. It is not encrypted: anyone with the link can load the inputs. A fresh calculation is required after loading. Saving permanently on this device is a separate, optional action.
Results are model calculations for the selected tax year and profile, not binding payslips or tax advice. Exchange rates, personal deductions, insurance choices and actual costs can change the outcome. Check the contract details and your individual circumstances before making a decision.
